As a team we would like to welcome and introduce you to the history of Whetmans’ by explaining how the company has developed since it started in 1936. Today we continue to take great pride in breeding and growing plants in Devon and also in Dorset.
It all started with growing and sending our beautiful, scented flowers by train from Dawlish to the London markets (as featured in the Great British Railway Journeys on BBC2 television). 85 years later, we are still in Devon, breeding and growing dianthus (sometimes called English Pinks) but now not only for stunning cut flowers, but also for your garden borders, pots and containers.
We have a dedicated breeding team who use their imagination, skill and magic to create gorgeous new introductions. All are thoroughly trialled before being launched. They are meticulously grown and cared for in our greenhouses before being dispatched to you. We offer the largest range of Dianthus online, offering you the chance to plant our top quality, elegant, hardy, scented and nature loving plants into your garden.
We are excited to be offering you the chance of buying other garden favourite plants grown by us and available at various times of the year. We will keep you updated through our newsletter when these are available to buy from the website.
