Pinks Growing Guide

Growing tips

Pinks like well-drained garden soil or a container with potting compost. Plant in a sunny area with enough space around them to grow.

How to plant your pink

Ensure the plant is watered before planting. From April – September, prepare a hole in the ground large enough to avoid damage to the roots. Remove the container and position the plant in the hole. Fill it with soil and firm lightly to compress the soil.

How to water your pink

Pinks can tolerate dry conditions and dislike roots to be constantly wet. Water regularly until plant is established and ensure good drainage.

How to feed pinks

Feed regularly during flowering season with a rose/tomato fertilizer.

Care of your pink

During flowering season, deadhead regularly.  Once all flowers are spent remove flowering stem at base of plant to encourage new growth. In the Autumn, cut the stems back to leave a neat mound over the winter.
